I'm not sure when the first "yearbook" for Wayne High School was published, since, as far as I know, many of the earlier editions did not show a volume number on them, but Wayne High School has been in existence since 1870, so anything is possible.

I do know that the 1968 "Spectator" that I own shows it as Volume #26, which when projected backward would suggest that Volume #1 would have been 1943, or so it seems.  This only confuses the matter further, since I did get to look at a 1940 "Spectator" in the library at Wayne High on February 2, 2004, and it does not have a Volume # on it, nor does the 1942 Spectator that I  acquired in March 2005.

I do not have a 1966 or 1967 Spectator, so I don't know if either of them show a Volume Number, which would have generally thought to have been Volumes #24 & #25.   The 1965 "Spectator" that I have does not have a Volume # on it either, nor do any of the earlier editions that I have back to the late 1940's.

I'm also not sure when the name "Spectator" was first given to a yearbook. as the oldest "Spectator" I've seen, as mentioned above, with the name "Spectator" on it, is the 1940 "Spectator".

If anyone has further information that they'd care to share, it would be appreciated.
