The Airport Shuttle
Bed & Breakfast Deal
Having always lived within a 10 to 15 minute drive of the Detroit Metropolitan Airport, I’ve never had to experience coming from a long distance to “Metro” to catch a flight to somewhere else.
For the past 30 years or so, 5 or 6 times a year, I have met an uncle of mine at the airport when he was flying off to somewhere. He always wanted to drive himself to the airport and be met there, and then be picked up in his own car when he returned. So each time, I would meet him at the airport, see that he got his luggage checked in and then I would drive his car back to my home, and when he returned, I would meet him at the airport and drive him home or to his office.
This got me to thinking that there are probably a few class mates that have to travel a long distance from their home, when they are flying out of Detroit Metropolitan Airport to some other destination.
And in many cases, their flights are scheduled for early in the morning. This means that they have to get up VERY early in the morning and make the drive to Detroit Metropolitan Airport, to arrive at least 2 hours before flight time, find a place to park their car, take a shuttle to the terminal, stand in line, etc.
Or, if they don’t wish to make the early morning drive, they would make the drive to the Detroit area the day or night before, get a hotel/motel room for the night, get up early in the morning to arrive at the airport at least 2 hours early, park their car, check their luggage and wait in line to board their flight.
After their flight home, they have to reverse the procedure.
So, here’s the deal:
ANY WMHS Class of 1959 classmate who is planning a trip out of Detroit Metropolitan Airport, and either has to leave their home early in the morning to get to the airport on time, or who has to come to the Detroit Metro area the night before to spend the night, because of the distance, has a standing offer.
1) You can come to our home the day or night before your flight, spend the night here with us, in your own bedroom with an attached bath, have a nice breakfast in the morning, and then be driven to the airport and dropped off in plenty of time to check your luggage and get to your gate. Your car will be left parked in our driveway until you return.
2) You can come to our home the day of your flight and then be driven to the airport and dropped off in plenty of time to check your luggage and get to your gate. Your car will be left parked in our driveway until you return.
Upon your return, you simply have to call us when your plane arrives and we will meet you, with your car, at the airport and you can then start driving for home.
Or, if it is late at night, and the drive would make it tough for you, you are welcome to come back to our home and spend that night with us too, before heading for home the next day. We'll see that you have a good nights sleep and a nice breakfast in the morning too.
All we need is a couple of weeks notice, to make sure that we’ll be in town at that time. But, in a pinch, we could probably do it with an hour's notice.
If you're just flying out of town, save the cost of parking at the airport (see below), call us and we'll meet you at the terminal, drive your car here to our place and park it and meet you, with your own car, when you return.
So, keep it in mind should the occasion arise. You're all welcome !!!!!!
