IMPORTANT NOTICE
REGARDING THE
"COMBINED CLASS REUNION"
Dear Class of 1959 to 1963 Classmates,
At a "post-reunion" committee meeting,
of members of the WMHS Combined Class Reunion for the WMHS Classes of 1959
to 1963, it was decided by all in attendance, to
DISBAND the Combined Class Reunion Reunion Committee.
This decision was made due to the lack
of very much interest on the part of the majority of the classmates from the
Classes of 1959 to 1963.
At the most recent WMHS Combined Class
Reunion, held the weekend of August 15-17, 2008, there were less than 100
total classmates in attendance, from the five (5) classes - 1959 to 1963.
This was from a class base of over 2000 classmates. That works out to less
than a 5% interest on the part of fellow classmates. The total is
appalling !!!!!
Reunions do not plan themselves.
Someone has to jump in and help, by attending the reunion committee planning
meetings, volunteering to help plan and put on the reunion, help locating
fellow classmates, etc.
We, the Reunion Committee, had
VERY LITTLE help over the past 9 years or so, from members of
ALL of the classes. One or two people volunteering from each class
just doesn't get it done.
The classes will now go their own ways,
and some classes will continue to have reunions, while others probably will
not. It's up to you, the class members of each class.
The Class of 1959 has already begun
their own Reunion planning committee, consisting of Yvonne Ostyn
Williams and myself (yes, our class is just as bad as the
others).
The rest of the Classes, I have no idea
what they have in mind. We haven't had a representative from the Class
of 1960 since 2005, when, sadly, Class of 1960 Classmate
Sharon (Matevia) Wodarski passed away.
The other classes have two or three classmates who served on the Combined
Class Reunion Committee, so they may form a committee and discuss holding a
reunion.
Starting next year
(2009), all of the Combined Class Reunion Classes will approach and arrive
at their 50th Anniversary of graduation. Our class, the Class of
1959, have already planned and will be holding a 50th Anniversary Reunion
Brunch on May 16, 2009. I have also built and will maintain a web site
for the Class of 1959, which is at:
http://www.wmhs1959.org
As each class approaches their 50th
Anniversary, they will be honored by the Wayne High School Alumni
Association at the WHSAA
Annual, "All-Class" Reunion Banquet, which is held EVERY YEAR on the
Friday after Mother's Day.
The Class of 1959 will be so honored
on Friday, May 15, 2009, and Yvonne and I volunteered and joined the WHSAA
Reunion Committee, to help plan our 50th Anniversary. The Classes of 1960,
1961, 1962 and 1963, should start planning for their 50th Anniversary too,
by volunteering to assist the WHSAA. It's not to early to start. They're
always looking for help. One of the biggest helps is ATTENDING
the yearly "All-Class Reunion Banquet". You can read all about it at their
web site, at:
Each class also needs to find someone to
build and maintain a web site for their reunion. Web sites also do not
build themselves, nor do they maintain themselves. Someone has to take the
responsibility to start and maintain it. I find it difficult to believe
that in this day and age that there is no one in the other classes that can
build and maintain a web site for their class.
The original "WMHS Combined Class
Reunion For The Classes of 1959 to 1963" is still up and running on the
Internet. I will maintain it as time permits, but my main interest is in
maintaining the Class of 1959 web site.
I am also maintaining the class mailing
addresses for all classes - 1959 to 1963, in the hopes that someone from
each class will step forward and take over. If someone does so, I will
pass along my most up-to-date address lists to them.
As new mailing addresses are sent along
to me from all of the classes, I also pass them along to the Historian for
the WHSAA, so that they can make contact with ALL former Wayne High School
Classmates.
Class of 1960, 1961, 1962 and 1963
classmates: Step up and volunteer. Offer
to build and maintain a web site, start planning your 50th Anniversary
Reunions. They won't get done if you don't do something. I'll be glad to
assist anyone from the other classes who wishes to start a class reunion web
site for their class.
Take care, hope to see many of you at
the Wayne High School Alumni Association Annual "All-Class" Reunion Banquet
on May 15, 2009.
